Waking Up | 2.14.21

Waking up in Tanzania happened slowly and with a rush of the senses. The air is cool on my skin and laying under the covers for a bit more is such a comforting luxury.

I woke at dawn. As I opened my eyes and adjusted to the shapes in the room, I distinctly heard my call to prayer followed by church bells tolling. At first I thought it was the breeze moving through, waking up the ancient earth and billowing my sheers just enough to remind me that I’d arrived.

Shortly after, the roosters answered the call to dawn and the soundtrack really began.

I am left in the in-between, not quite ready to jump up. Savoring every moment and sensation of this new place. Of my new home.
